Weston is a Discipleship Coach with a passion for helping people do the work of ministry God has prepared for them. He took an unconventional path into ministry, receiving his B.S. in Sport Management from Quincy University. “I didn’t have aspirations of working in ministry. I wanted to work in professional sports and often wondered, ‘How can God use me?” he says. God had different plans, however, and Weston worked as a sports director for two churches over 13 years. Along the way, he received his Master's in Christian Ministry from Liberty University and his Certificate in Transformational Coaching from Western Seminary.
Like many pastors, Weston experienced the pressures and feelings of overwhelm that come with vocational ministry. He also observed that many people were like he was. They loved Jesus and wanted a radical faith, but didn’t know what they should do or how to begin. This led him to focus his energy on equipping his coaches to serve their players and families beyond the game, making disciples and sharing their faith. He specialized in leadership development and mentored three coaches into church leadership roles (two staff positions and one elder).
Eventually, the Lord led him to start Commission Leadership, a ministry that aims to see every Christian become a disciple-maker. As a Discipleship Coach, Weston works with church leaders to help them find peace in Jesus, and equips them to make disciples in their unique context. Weston lives in Indiana with his wife and their two year old son. They love road trips and look forward to taking their son on adventures as he gets older. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing with his family, and enjoying the company of friends around a fire pit.
