AboutLa Guajira, Colombia, the northernmost territory of this country, is a desert area inhabited mainly by indigenous people of the Wayuu ethnic group. Their culture has remained almost impenetrable in its culture and worldview over the years.
Elder and Alexander, together with their families for years have sought ways to fulfill The Great Commission in multiple ways, and putting everything within their reach to fulfill it- delivering time, resources and most importantly the family to God for it. It was on one occasion during a missionary trip and after meeting CSRM's PF Meyers, who shared excellent material on how to use sport to evangelize, where together they decided that it would be a good way to reach many for God in an effective way. Elder and his family, who are part of the Wayuu ethnic group, along with Alexander and his family, decided to leave their hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia and serve in the indigenous communities. They began to visit the Rancherías, which are settlements formed by one or two families with their own authority and law. To put into practice the use of this resource, they started to go from one Rancheria to another on a motorcycle, presenting themselves as trainers to give the opportunity to open the doors of that place and present the Gospel. To the glory of God it paid off since we started sports clinics with four communities, which helped us to land the vision of this ministry and the desire to prepare ourselves better to give the best. |
