Philippians 3:14
"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus"

Brabeion: a prize or award given to the winner of a public athletic contest
What would you say would be the highest honor or “award” that you could ever receive?
This week we are exploring the concept of the priorities of sports ministers and the athletes, coaches and referees they proclaim the Gospel to. Based on this week’s Greek sports word Brabeion that described the “prize” a referee or official would bestow upon a victorious athlete…
Paul was inspired to write to believers in the ancient Greek city of Philippi that they were to press on towards their spiritual goal of the “upward call of God” …and to do so with the same kind of dedication and zeal that athletes exert in order to receive an athletic “prize.”
So what “prize” are you striving for? There can be no higher “prize” than to lead a person into a personal faith in Jesus!
Action point: Recommit yourself this day!... to reaching athletes, coaches and officials who are far from Jesus.
