Dromos: Race, Race Course, Road, or Running
How are you running?
Dromos is the Greek word for a race… or race-course… that occurred in the athletic games of ancient Greece and it is used throughout the New Testament in a metaphorical way to describe the “course” of a person’s life or ministry. Dromos assumes there is a race taking place on the racecourse. Therefore, it communicates that whoever is on such a “course” is “running”…and thus exerting the necessary effort and energy to win the “race”…to “complete the race.”
So, the focus of this week’s Daily Huddle will emerge from the verses that include Dromos and the spiritual lessons that emerge from the world of “running & completing our race.” This week I hope to encourage, challenge and inspire not only athletes and coaches but especially all sports ministers to “run and finish your race!”
Are you ready to “run your course?” If so, tune in each day to the Daily Huddle
