Who’s your mentor?

Today we continue on the theme of “fighting” or “battling.” Our conversation once again continues in the study of the Greek word Agon which was an athletic term that was rooted in the concept of an athlete’s “fighting or battling, “struggling or striving.”

Paul wrote his last epistle to Timothy from a prison where he was awaiting being executed for his faith in Jesus. The letter evoked a bitter-sweet emotion in Timothy as he indeed grieved the impending doom of his mentor and yet rejoiced in his memory of the time he and Paul experienced the athletic festival they attended just outside of Corinth. It was there that Paul taught the spiritual principles and lessons as they watched the good “fights” and “battles” on display before them. Timothy received life-changing lessons from a trusted and loved mentor.

Action point: Before another day goes by...prayerfully consider who you should seek out to be your mentor...someone who can impart to you life-impacting wisdom?
