AGON, Competition, Striving, Struggle
II TImothy 4:7
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith"

Agon: competing, struggling, or striving
Will you finish well? What will be said of you at your funeral?
Today we continue on the theme of “fighting” or “battling”...spiritually speaking. Our conversation is based upon our continued study of the Greek word Agon which was an athletic term that was rooted in the concept of an athlete’s “striving, fighting or battling” to overcome an opponent or obstacle.
Paul, at the end of the last letter he ever composed, wrote a summary of his life to his ministry protégé Timothy. In it he states: “I have “fought” the good “fight.” Timothy knew this was true for he had witnessed Paul as he “struggled,” “strove,” and “battled” throughout his entire life for the Gospel and even now while in prison and facing martyrdom, Paul continued to “fight the good fight.”
Action point: Right now, make a resolution to finish well and to “fight the good fight” starting right
