In the heat of a highly competitive game...do you ever struggle with controlling your emotions or passions?

Today we’re continuing to look at the Greek word for athletic striving: AGON that is the root word for today’s word Agonizomenos that is found in the 1st letter the Apostle Paul was inspired to write to the believers in Corinth. Using the athletic imagery of “striving,” Paul challenged the Corinthians to “strive” like the athletes who came to their city to compete in the Isthmian games where they would “strive” to win a champion’s crown that would soon fade away. Just as every athlete says no to something in order to say yes to what it takes to win...Paul’s goal was that all who read his letter ...including us...would “strive” to bring all our passions under control today...so we can win a crown that would last forever.

Action point: Determine today, what crown are you striving for and commit to “strive” to control any “passion” that will keep you from attaining your “crown”!
