Are you where you thought you’d be right now?  How’s your ministry?  Is your life on “course?”

Luke was inspired to include an insightful note about John the Baptist in the book of Acts that reads: “…as John was finishing his Dromon / course.  Dromon is the ancient athletic Greek word that referenced a race and is the focus of the Daily Huddle this week.

If we would have been able to ask John to reflect upon his life when he was in the prison that Herod a governmental authority had sentenced him to, its very likely he would say the “course” of his life had taken a turn he had never expected.  He had envisioned a life of ministry that was to “prepare the way for the Lord Jesus,” but now he found himself imprisoned awaiting execution.  Nonetheless, even at this dire moment he told people: “after me One is coming…”  John not only ran the “course” of his race well, but he did so to his last breath.
