Report on CSRM Cape Town, South Africa Sport Outreach Summit
Goal: Rebuild trust with churches and specially the youth/ future leaders around CSRM.
Concern: Many Sport Ministries in SA are not currently focused on keeping the local church as the foundation within sport ministry!
Objective: Introduce CSRM’s focus on “evangelistic-disciplemaking”
Strategy: CSRM Cape Town 2016 Sports Outreach Summit was specifically modeled to equip key leaders in and around Cape Town who will form the Hub church in their areas of influence. The 20 key ‘runners’ was challenged to also live out 2 Timothy 2:2 just as outlined for them.
Presenter: Bradley Barnes who lectured on foundation of CSRM, vision of CSRM, sports ministry, church and sports ministry, evangelism, discipleship, sports parables, building CSRM within church. An evangelist Darius Bekker from port Elizabeth who shared about practical ways to evangelize and share the gospel.
Highlight: Hearing from 13yr old Luke boldly who shared his own sports parable that he and his friends had learned from Bradley Barnes 3 years ago’
Certification: Each attendee received a certificate of completion for been dedicated throughout the theory & practical sessions of the Summit. Many travelled from afar & it was a mere appreciation towards them and our future CSRM family.
Another positive outcome of CSRM conference was the 98% attendees evaluation form feedback about conference & myself.
Results: The greatest impact the CSRM Sport Outreach Summit has was evidenced through the attendees expressed desire to grow more in Christ through special interest in the Christmanship book of theology, methodology & biblical understanding of all aspects of CSRM.
Including requesting Bradley Barnes to lecture on the entire book of christmanship!
Future Plans: A CSRM South Africa coastline Sports Outreach Summit to train in all 4 states/ provinces situated on our coastline in 2017.
Special Thanks: Special thanks to New Faith Steenberg campus which hosted the event including all catering, utilities and church facilities at no cost.
Many thanks to CSRM for resources, support from CSRM’s Director of International Initiatives – Jonathan Detweiler - and all the prayers from all CSRM staff & global GNP staff.
Above all: Paises to GOD!
